HSA PrimeCare President John Wilson Shares Health Care Real Estate Perspective with Real Estate Forum Magazine
February 5, 2014

In the January 2014 edition of Real Estate Forum, HSA PrimeCare president John Wilson joins other health care real estate leaders in analyzing the factors, other than the mandates from the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”), that are contributing to the shift toward outpatient care delivery.

In his comments, HSA PrimeCare’s John Wilson tells Real Estate Forum that “recent technological innovation together with regulatory changes as outlined by the ACA and the resulting cost pressures are playing a greater role in health care strategy by accelerating the migration of inpatient procedures to outpatient settings.” John also references the attention being paid to consumerism among health care providers who believe exceptional patient care and comfort have become essential in competing within the health care sector.

With approximately 10,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 every day, the need to deliver care in more “flexible and efficient” environments is also becoming a priority in order to control costs. By consulting with the leading health systems in the Midwest, John has observed “a move from multi-tenant to multi-specialty medical office building design [that] is offering providers flexibility to accommodate new models of integrated care delivery as well as allowing hospitals to co-locate their newly acquired physicians and physician practices.”
