In an appearance for Commercial Property Executive, HSA PrimeCare Vice President of property management Margaret Gaca provided insight on the best practices for maintenance in the ever-growing medical office building sector.

Per a September report from Savills, volumes in outpatient care are expected to increase by more than one quarter in the next 10 years, and with that growth comes a need for an intense focus on managing these more specialized facilities.

In addition to cleanliness procedures, one of the top considerations in medical office management is HVAC needs, which can vary widely.

“When new equipment comes in, we ask, ‘What does it require? Do (they) require additional heating or cooling?’” Gaca observed. “If we don’t build it out right, then they are not going to operate properly.”
