University of Chicago Cancer Center at Silver Cross

HSA PrimeCare, the medical office division of Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate, is beginning development of a two-story, 22,500square-foot outpatient cancer treatment center for Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Ill., in Chicago’s southwest suburbs. John Wilson, president, HSA PrimeCare, and Daniel F. Miranda, president, HSA Commercial, announced the development, which is HSA PrimeCare‘s second project with Silver Cross Hospital.

The University of Chicago Cancer Center at Silver Cross Hospital, to be located at 1850 Silver Cross Blvd. in New Lenox, will be fully occupied by the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) oncology department and a joint UCMC-Silver Cross Hospital oncology practice. HSA PrimeCare will own and manage the facility.

HSA PrimeCare was selected by UCMC and Silver Cross Hospital to assist in planning and developing the two-story outpatient center on the campus of Silver Cross’ newly developed 289-bed replacement hospital at Highway 6 and Silver Cross Boulevard, just west of the I-355 interchange.
“As a healthcare organization, we must offer state-of-the-art facilities to attract top healthcare professionals and to serve patients most effectively,” said Ruth Colby, senior vice president, business development, at Silver Cross Hospital.

“With a proven real HSA PrimeCare/University of Chicago Cancer Center at Silver Cross Hospital estate services provider in place, we are confident that the Cancer Center will be a successful project.”

“Working with a real estate services firm allows the healthcare organization to focus on its core mission, rather than on the details of real estate development,” said Dan Miranda, president, HSA Commercial Real Estate. “We are pleased that Silver Cross Hospital chose to work with our firm for this project, as well as with the Silver Cross Health Center and Professional Building.”

The UCMC oncology department will occupy 10,224 square feet of the facility, while a UCMC-Silver Cross Hospital joint practice in oncology will occupy 9,661 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2011 with a projected opening in spring 2012.

HSA PrimeCare, an operating division of HSA Commercial Real Estate, is focused on real estate assets for the healthcare industry and is a leading developer and manager of medical office buildings in the Midwest, with a portfolio of properties totaling more than 700,000 square feet.

Previously, HSA PrimeCare was selected to develop and manage Silver Cross Medical Office Building, a two-story, 56,000-square-foot property that includes Children’s Memorial Hospital, Silver Cross Hospital and Hinsdale Orthopaedics as tenants. Silver Cross Cancer Center will be connected via common corridors to the Silver Cross Medical Office Building and Silver Cross Hospital.
